The Unforgiven Crime

The Holocaust was a horrible time for the Jews to live in Europe. The Germans used old and crude methods to persecute and dispose of the jews. I have found one of these persecuting methods one of the greatest crimes against humanity. Starting off with the less important stuff, I will open this with a little about the Anglo-Soviet Mutual Assistance Pact. After that, we will head on over to the infamous 1941 german invasion of Russia (a.k.a. operation Barbarossa). And last, but certainly least, the decree that states that all Jews in the Baltic States had to wear the yellow star of David So read on, and you shall see (in words) the greatest crime against humanity.

Some of you readers are looking at this and wondering through your confused brain; what is this Anglo-Soviet Mutual Assistance pact?? Well, then let me give you some backround(okay, I know how you feel, I didn\'t know about this until this year).

When The Russians were at war against the Germans, they had to find help somewhere. So they Russian Government looked to the British. The British agreed to help the Russians, therefore creating the Anglo-Soviet Mutual Assistance Pact.

The Russians and Brits kept their friendship strong and loyal, at least until the end of the war. The greatest crime would absolutely NOT be the Anglo-Soviet Mutual Assistance Pact.

Operation Barbarossa was the invasion of the Soviet Union that was set up by the Germans. This invasion, though formally and diplomatically announced by the Germans, took the Russians by surprise.

The Invasion lasted for years and had Russian victories at Moscow, Stalingrad, and many other places. This would not be what I would call a crime against humanity, besides, this part of the war could definitely be worse. It was worse in some parts of this invasion.

See, the Germans took hundreds of thousands of Jewish prisoners, and everybody knows what they did to those prisoners. But, however, I do not feel that this is the biggest crime against humanity.

The Jews in the Baltic States(the present-day countries of Lithuania, Latvia, and Albania) the Germans issued a decree that all Jewish men and women had to wear the star of David. Whoever did not follow this order were either fined, imprisoned, or shot on sight. I believe that this was a huge crime against humanity that went unpunished by us and everyone else.

First of all, it wasn\'t fair at all to the poor Jews, who weren\'t exactly suspicious of what the Germans would do to them. Next, the whole idea of making the Jews do this is cruel and unfair to all Jews. And lastly, the whole Baltic region was let down.

Jews, who did not appreciate this kind of persecution, which dates all the way back to the 1200\'s. Jews ended up sometimes hiding the badge under their clothes because they were embarrassed. I strongly believe the greatest crime against humanity was (and is) what I just put in words.
(about.com)

So this sums it up. Many Jews were very violated with the Holocaust, and most of them died because of it. The greatest crime against humanity lived in the holocaust, over 60 years ago. Now we, as civil American citizens, must act to remember the holocaust, and preventing this sort of genocide and persecution fron happening again. Some people don\'t want to talk about this subject, but now we are, and we know about it, the unforgiven crime.
